Groups for growing Christians
Growth Groups
Growing should never stop for Christians. The Church will only be completely
mature when Christ returns so up until then it's our job to grow and become
more like Jesus. The way we do this is by encouraging one another in the
knowledge of Christ.
The way we do this is by encouraging one another in the knowledge of Christ.
One important way that we do this is through meeting together in small groups. These Growth groups (as we call them), usually consist of no more than about twelve people. In these groups we give a significant place to reading and discussing the Bible as well as praying together. The groups either meet at the Church centre or in our members' homes.
Not only do they encourage us to know our God but they are also a great way of getting to know others in the Church.
Foundations for Growth
Christians are to be growing in their faith. For proper growth we need sound foundations. New Christians need to be fed the right sort of food. They need to be taught the elementary truths of God word (c/f Hebrews 5:11-14).
We have a number of courses for new believers or for older believers wanting to revise the fundamentals. These studies are a part our Christian Foundation Course. The following table has some information on these.
| Course Description | |
|---|---|
| Considering Christianity | A four session course that provides a basic understanding of Christianity |
| Baptism | A two week study on why Christians are baptised. |
| Just for starters | This is a seven week study providing believers with a better understanding of God's kindness, the Church, how to talk and listen to God and how we should relate to others. |
| Bible Basics | In three sessions, new Christians are taught how to read and understand the bible. |
